What I Liked Best About Life Skills By: Jessica McKinney

I learned how to use money in stores and in real life.  It was so much fun because I caught on right away, and I got it right most of the time! I also had fun learning how to count back money for people in the stores or at sales.  This will help me at garage sales this summer!  Even though it was not real money, I had alot of fun because now I know how to count money!

Things I Like Most About Life Skills Class by Chesnie Blankenship

I enjoyed several different things this year in Life Skills class.  I really enjoyed  cooking and learned alot about it.  I liked making Fruit Pizza the best!   I also liked when we had to do a word search puzzle every Wednesday to review our our Spelling words. I've really gotten alot better at doing word searches.  I really liked celebrating the holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving too.  For Christmas I got a makeup kit, and for Thanksgiving all the kids could have one guest to join us for our feast and eat what we had cooked. It was alot of fun when we went to the park and cooked hotdogs, cheeseburgers, and other foods.  I enjoyed it when Miss Fratus took pictures of us (I looked good in them, just saying!~). To tell you the truth, I kinda liked it here at the junior/senior high school this year.  One day around April Fool's day, Mrs. Bright gave us kids a lottery ticket.  I was scratching mine off, then I went up to Mrs. Bright and asked her how we know if we won or not.  She explained it to me, and I took another good look at it and I was so happy...  I ran over to Mrs. Bright to show her that I had WON $5,000!  She was all happy too, and said that I have to split it with her.  I was a little unhappy about that, but I didn't really care as long as I was going to get some money too.  I was so excited and telling everyone in the room, then Taylor and Kaelin came up to me and said, "Chesnie, Chesnie..... they're fake!  WOW... Mrs. Bright really got me on April Fool's!

I enjoyed making brownies in Mrs. Bright's Life skills class.  I especially liked the friends I made in class.  They are very kind and friendly.  I liked being able to make crafts and drawing in class sometimes.

I liked it when we cooked a big feast for Thanksgiving dinner. We had everyone there and I had fun with Jessica and her sister, and my Grandma.  I liked the Christmas party that we had and exchanging gifts with each other.  I will miss everything about this class!

What I Enjoyed Most About Life Skills Class :P :By :Spencer Bach

The things that I enjoyed the most in Mrs.Brights life skills class was that you can cook anything if you follow instructions and listen. I also enjoyed the picnic, because we all climbed up the big rock. The teacher watched us so we didn't fall off. Plus we also ate hamburgers and hot-dogs  with with some condiments. We also took some pictures of everyone at the picnic. We took some in front of the waterfall and some in front of the big rock. I'm looking forward to getting our pictures back to pass out to family and friends.

What I Enjoyed Most In Lifeskills by Mike Brinker

The thing I enjoyed the most was cooking.
We learned how to work as a team.
I know how to make so many different things now.
My favorite thing to make was the Oreo Dessert.
I can make a variety of different foods now.
Desserts are my favorite though!!!!

My favorite thing about Life Skills Class by Bri Lengel

I have learned how to cook this year, I have also learned how to tell time with clocks and military time, I have also learned how to read time schedules. I have learned the things I need to know in order  to pass the written driving test. I have also learned how to do the banking, which includes writing checks and balancing a check book.  I have expanded my vocabulary in different subjects.

My favorite thing about Life Skills by Talbot McKee

My favorite thing I learned this year in Mrs. Bright's Life Skills class was the rules of the road in the entire Driving class! There was so much in the 12 Driving units that I didn't know! I loved everything about Driving; I loved the licensing, inspection, registration, insurance, right-of-way, parking, speed limits, signaling, and passing, to name just a few. There is so much you need to know about the road, its rules, sharing it, and traffic. I didn't know that organ donation and voter registration had anything to do with Driving, but you can register for both at the license bureau. I loved the Driving class more than any other because Driving was so interesting to me. That's why Driving was my favorite thing in Mrs. Bright's Life Skills class that I learned this year.

Friendship by Isaac Akins

They are helpful when someone gets hit or they can help you get the help you need. And you can buy their food when you go shopping  and talk to them. If you get mad you can talk to your friend so you don't get in trouble by your mom and your dad and they take your game away from you.  And when you said sorry to your friend you can buy them food and you can help put the TV in the car and up in the house. A good friend helps you fix your car if your car is in trouble.  You can help to fix their car and you can help fix their house.

Good Friends by Talbot McKee

A good friend is someone who shares their stuff with you. They share secrets, but they don't tell your secrets to others. When you get injured, they cure your bruises. They can help you feel better when you are sad. They help you stay out of trouble. They can help you fix something that you have broken but can be fixed. If you have broken something that can't be fixed, they can help you replace it if they can. A good friend always does something good for you, and you should do something good for them, too.

What makes a great friend? By: Spencer Bach

I think good friends have qualities like being trustworthy, honest, polite, and neat. Good friends also need to be, funny, cool, awesome, and weird at times. A good friend might also have stuff in common with you and be there for you when you need them. These are the traits of a good friend.

What makes a good friend?
A good friend is someone who is trustworthy and honest; a good friend is someone who keeps secrets that you tell. A good friend asks you if you want to go somewhere with them. A good friend is someone who helps you if you are upset or if you are in need. A good friend is someone who likes the same stuff as you do. A good friend might like the same movies as you do. A good friend might invite you to a birthday party. A friend might get you stuff that you didn’t want. A good friend is someone who plays video games or board games with you.

Friendship by Isaiah Akins

They are helpful and they say hi and they are awesome and when someone gets hurt they help pick them up and they work it out.  When we play our games they take turns, they share other stuff. Sometimes they pick us up for youth group and we take him for movies and food. They are playful. they let you borrow their car. They borrow money and they pay you back. They share food they let your borrow games over to the house and they borrow your games.

What makes a good friend?
Someone who is nice.
They make me happy and feel good about myself.
They make me laugh a lot.
They stick up for me when someone is mean to me.
They are trustworthy and keep my secrets.
When they promise that they will do something they keep that promise.
They are always there for you to cheer you up when your sad or mad.
They care about you.

Mrs. Bright: Teacher Extraordinaire by Parent, Karla Akins

As a former homeschool Mom, I was very nervous about my twin sons attending the public high school, but Mrs. Bright has made the transition for my sons extraordinarily smooth.

We often hear a lot about what teachers do wrong in the media, but rarely do we hear of the sacrifices of our teachers. So I'm posting this on the class blog to sing her praises because I don't think she gets enough. (I volunteer in her class as the "blog teacher," helping the students create this blog, which is why I have access to post this.)

Mrs. Bright is a teacher whose heart is with the students. She teaches people -- not curriculum. She puts their needs first and tries to perceive things through their eyes. She wins their heart by respecting them and delighting in their accomplishments.

She is constantly going over and above the call of duty in preparing life skills lessons and activities that the students not only enjoy, but learn from. Whether it's cooking or learning to reconcile a checkbook, Mrs. Bright and her paraprofessionals (I don't know all their names, but they are worthy of mention, too), are constantly on top of the students' needs trying to meet them.

I can't say enough good about Mrs. Bright's Life Skills class and this wonderful, gifted, caring teacher.

Let's give three cheers for Mrs. Bright!

A Good Friend by Anonymous

A good friend is someone who does not make you feel inferior. To add to that you must be able to put your trust in them entirely. As if you life is in danger and you must trust to live.

Your good friend must be able to listen and respond to a question or conversation. Willing to keep a secret is true in friendship. They should not insult or use you in any way.

You can't be too picky with choosing a friend. If you say they are friends they should say you are, too!

My Best Friend? By:Jessica McKinney

My best friend is Katrina because I have been with her from when we were babies. I trust her with all of my secrets because she has never told anyone my secrets. Katrina and I have been there for one another and she doesn’t talk bad about me behind my back and if someone tells her that I’m talking bad about her behind her back she comes up to me and says are you talking bad about me. Me and Katrina have never got in a fight in are 16 years and she never puts me down for how I act and how I dress. She likes to hang out with me all the time. When people are mean to me she tells them to shut up and to leave me alone. She helps me through really hard break ups with other people. She makes me laugh when I’m upset.

A true friend by Kaelin Harting

A true friend is someone that you can trust because they are your best friend. Someone that you can tell them anything and they will not tell anybody any thing.  Also. your best friends is someone that you can talk to when you are having trouble in school or having a  boyfriend problem. They are someone you can trust with anything that you tell them. My best friend makes me laugh when I am feeling left out or I have had a bad day.

How to be a good friend? by Chesnie Blankenship

Being a good friend isn't about looks, it's about being your self and finding the group friends you fit in with and don't let a boy go between you and your friendship! A best friend, a true friend is someone who you love (as a friend) and can truly can talk about any thing. He or she is like a brother or sister to you who you can trust! Say that this person is a true friend to you and they tell your other friend a lie, now that's not a true friend. I have two friends and one of them as a boyfriend and her friend (and mine) is upset about it. She should at least support her.
